Brasscom on Twitter

In step with digital trends, the Brazilian Association of Information Technology and Communication Companies (Brasscom) on Monday (07/13) launched its Twitter page, an online social network which allows people to communicate using instant messaging.

The idea is to keep specific audiences, such as opinion formers, analysts and executives in the network, informed about what Brasscom and its members are doing. It will also update them on developments in the information and communication technology sector, keeping those who are interested in the Brazilian industry informed. The ease with which messages can be accessed and published will mean news will be released quickly, worldwide, to the largest number of people possible.

Brasscom?s initiative is part of its partnership with Apex-Brasil to promote the Brazilian ICT sector abroad, and to position Brazil as one of the three main strategic ICT-BPO centers.

According to the statistics site compete.com, Twitter is the third most-visited social network in the world, with over 54.2 million page views a month. According to Twitter itself, it is the most popular micro-blogging site in the world, and is becoming more popular amongst Brazilian internet users. It is estimated that there are over 110,000 active Twitter users writing in Portuguese.
